MSc thesis project proposal

[2026] - Electro polymerization of Conducting polymer Electrodes for Monitoring and Stimulating Neural Cultures

Background: Electropolymerization is a powerful technique for depositing conducting polymer coatings onto metal electrodes, offering precise control and selective, site-specific patterning on microelectrode arrays. This capability is particularly advantageous for neural interface applications, where low-impedance electrodes are required for effective monitoring and electrical stimulation of neural cultures.

Assignment

1st part:  Literature review.

2nd part: Electro polymerization of PEDOT – counter ion functional thin films.

3rd part: Design, fabrication and characterization of electropolymerized MEAs.

4th part: Monitoring and stimulation of neural cultures

Requirements

MSc students from Microelectronics are welcomed to apply. Interested students should contact Dr. Achilleas Savva (a.savva@tudelft.nl), by including their CV, the list of courses attended, and a motivation letter.
